    HCL Foundation, UP govt renew Samuday pact till 2031

    In a major push for rural development, HCL Foundation and the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday announced a landmark extension of their Samuday partnership, renewing the flagship rural development programme for another five years, through 2031.

    The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding at a ceremony in Lucknow, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Rural Development Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Minister of State for Rural Development Vijay Laxmi Gautam, and senior government officials.

    Maurya said the state government remains committed to integrated rural development, noting that the Samuday partnership had driven significant change in Hardoi district over the past 11 years, and that the renewed MoU aims to replicate this transformation in other districts of Uttar Pradesh.

    Since its launch in Hardoi in 2015, the Samuday partnership by HCL Foundation has grown into one of India’s largest government-CSR collaborations. The programme now spans 579 Gram Panchayats across 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh, reaching more than 3 million people. It is also active in 95 Gram Panchayats in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district, benefiting over 140,000 residents.

    Under the renewed Samuday partnership, focus areas will include strengthening rural livelihoods, improving education and healthcare access, promoting climate-resilient agriculture, advancing water and sanitation infrastructure, empowering Panchayati Raj institutions, and deepening convergence with government schemes, besides extending the programme’s footprint to additional districts.

    Dr Nidhi Pundhir, Director, HCL Foundation, said the organisation works closely with communities and government bodies to strengthen rural ecosystems and build development models that can be scaled across geographies. She added that the past decade of the Samuday partnership had shown how government, communities and the private sector could jointly deliver lasting impact, and that HCL Foundation looks forward to deepening this collaboration.

    Samuday’s impact since 2015:

    • Over 1.99 million people reached through health and nutrition programmes
    • More than 534,000 students benefited from improved learning environments
    • 113,000+ farmers supported with better agricultural practices
    • 85,000+ youth and women aided through livelihood initiatives
    • 2,224 kWp of renewable energy infrastructure created
    • 2,300+ households covered under waste management interventions

    HCLFoundation marks landmark dreen drive for 50 years

    HCLFoundation, which drives the corporate social responsibility agenda of HCLTech in India, said on Tuesday it marked the 50th anniversary of HCL Group with a landmark environmental drive, planting 50,000 native saplings and organizing clean-up campaigns at 50 beaches nationwide.

    The initiatives, spread across 10 states, brought together HCLTech employees and their families, nonprofit partners, women’s collectives, youth groups and community members, HCLFoundation said in a statement.

    The drives form part of HCLFoundation’s broader sustainability push to strengthen ecosystems, conserve natural resources and encourage community participation in environmental stewardship, the organization said.

    HCLFoundation said it has greened 74,000 acres of land to date, bringing the area under community management, while more than 155 billion liters of water have been harvested, supporting biodiversity and bolstering water security in some of India’s most water-stressed communities.

    As part of its coastal conservation work, the Foundation said it has planted more than 181,000 saplings of terrestrial, mangrove and shelter belt species and collected over 120,800 kg of ghost nets and marine debris to date.

    HCLFoundation’s Sports for Change National Finals empower 600 athletes

    HCLFoundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of HCLTech, on Tuesday said it hosted the eighth edition of the Sports for Change National Finals 2026 at Gautam Buddha University, bringing together 600 young athletes from 15 states over three days.

    The Sports for Change National Finals empower grassroots talent by giving underserved children a platform to compete at the national level, the foundation said in a statement.

    The three-day event featured 300 boys and 300 girls who had qualified through district, state and zonal competitions in football, kabaddi, volleyball, kho kho, archery, badminton and table tennis.

    Participants represented states and union territories including Uttar Pradesh, Ladakh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, West Bengal, Assam, Sikkim and Nagaland, the foundation said.

    “At HCLFoundation, we believe every child, regardless of their socio-economic background, deserves the opportunity to discover their potential and pursue their aspirations,” said Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, Senior Vice President, Global CSR at HCLTech and Director of HCLFoundation.

    “By nurturing grassroots talent and fostering an environment where young athletes are encouraged to dream bigger, build resilience and strive for excellence, we hope the National Finals inspire every participant to realize that their circumstances need not define their future.”

    The Sports for Change programme has reached more than 74,000 children and youth across India since inception, including 474 para-athletes, the foundation said.

    More than 12,000 young athletes took part in this year’s competitions, and over 30 sports scholarships covering coaching, equipment, nutrition and training access will be awarded to top performers.

    The initiative has enabled more than 490 athletes to advance to national-level competitions, with 38 going on to represent India internationally, the foundation said.

    Notable alumni include badminton player Jerlin Anika, sprinter Preeti Pal, rugby player Akshaya, powerlifter Rajkumari and chess player Kanishri.

    HCLFoundation said it has positively impacted more than 8.5 million lives to date through programmes focused on education, grassroots sports, health, sanitation, skill development, livelihood and environmental initiatives.

    HCLTech, its parent company, employs more than 223,000 people across 60 countries and reported consolidated revenues of USD 14.8 billion for the 12 months ended June 2026.

    HCLFoundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Urban Development Department of Uttar Pradesh to advance sustainable waste management practices in Hardoi, Prayagraj, and Agra under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

    The partnership will focus on strategic planning, pilot projects, policy reforms, and IT-enabled solutions to strengthen urban sanitation across the three cities.

    As part of the My Clean City initiative, HCLFoundation flagged off 10 E-drain carts and 10 E-garbage loaders donated to Hardoi Nagar Palika Parishad and unveiled three reverse vending machines.

    The Foundation is also undertaking city beautification through wall art and developing model markets and wards in Hardoi.

    “My Clean City is a citizen-led program aimed at reclaiming urban spaces with technology inclusion and innovative solutions. This partnership will strengthen efforts in Agra, Hardoi, and Prayagraj—our three new expansion cities in FY26,” said Alok Varma, Project Director, Samuday and My Clean City, HCLFoundation.

    Anuj Kumar Jha, Secretary, Urban Development Department and State Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), Government of Uttar Pradesh, welcomed the collaboration, saying it will accelerate urban sanitation, strengthen waste management practices, and create replicable models for city transformation.

    Launched in 2018, My Clean City has sensitized nearly 750,000 citizens, trained over 100,000 stakeholders, managed 22,000 plus tons of waste, and engaged more than 3,500 school students through its Waste Champions Club in Noida and Greater Noida.

    HCLFoundation, the CSR arm of global technology company HCLTech, and Pearson on Wednesday launched the Discovery Science Center in Bengaluru, a state-of-the-art STEM lab designed to empower underprivileged students through hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics learning.

    The Discovery Science Center will equip underserved students with critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills via immersive, application-based experiences. Supported by year-round STEM clubs, competitions, and workshops, the initiative aims to reach more than 1,500 students annually, fostering curiosity and early innovation capabilities.

    This launch strengthens the strategic partnership between HCLTech and Pearson to advance skills development using AI-powered technology. It builds on the success of a similar center in Noida that has already delivered impactful hands-on STEM learning to underserved communities, the Foundation said in a statement.

    “Every student should have the opportunity to explore science and technology through hands-on learning. This Discovery Science Center gives students in underserved communities a place to explore, build skills and unlock their potential,” said Vishaal Gupta, India Chair and President, Enterprise Learning & Skills at Pearson.

    “This partnership demonstrates what is possible when technology expertise, the science of learning and grassroots execution come together. By strengthening digital learning ecosystems and embedding inclusion at the core, we are building pathways for the most underserved learners to access quality education,” said Nidhi Pundhir, Senior Vice President and Global Head, CSR at HCLTech.

    Earlier this year, HCLFoundation and Pearson supported 400 students in underserved areas by establishing smart classrooms with smart boards and laptops, along with tailored assistive devices for children with special needs, including visual impairments.

    HCLFoundation seeks NGO applications for Rs 24 Crore HCLTech Grant Edition XII

    HCLFoundation has invited applications from non-profit organisations across India for Edition XII of the HCLTech Grant, Rs 24 crore initiative targeting transformative rural development across four themes — water, biodiversity, health and education.

    The corporate social responsibility arm of global technology company HCLTech is accepting submissions at www.hclfoundation.org/hcltech-grant until June 30, 2026, the Foundation said in a statement on Thursday.

    Four winning organisations, one from each theme, will receive Rs 5 crore each. Eight additional NGOs will receive Rs 50 lakh each for proposed projects across the same categories.

    “Some of the most transformative solutions emerge from grassroots organisations deeply connected to the communities they serve,” said Dr Nidhi Pundhir, Director, HCLFoundation.

    “Through this edition of HCLTech Grant, we aim to provide a platform for NGOs to unleash their potential, scale innovative ideas and create sustainable change.”

    The HCLTech Grant has to date reached 2.3 million lives across 61,000 villages in India. Funded initiatives have resulted in the planting of more than three lakh saplings, rejuvenation of over 68,300 hectares of land and a reduction of more than 67,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Total commitments under the programme now exceed ₹203 crore.

    Winners of Edition XI included Gramin Vikas Vigyan Samiti from Rajasthan, Live Foundation from Jharkhand, Goodwill Foundation from Mizoram and Mahila Jan Adhikar Samiti from Rajasthan, each receiving Rs 5 crore for projects spanning water harvesting, biodiversity conservation, healthcare access and gender equality through education.

    HCLFoundation also announced the HCLTech Grant Edition XII Pan India Symposiums 2026, scheduled in Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Nagpur and New Delhi, to bring together NGOs, government bodies, corporates and policymakers on the role of CSR in nation building.

    HCLFoundation has positively impacted over 8.4 million lives through long-term programmes in education, health, sanitation, skill development, environment and disaster risk reduction.

    HCLFoundation, which drives the corporate social responsibility agenda of HCLTech in India, announced on Monday the expansion of its My Clean City program to Agra, Uttar Pradesh — the first city outside the Noida–Greater Noida belt to receive the initiative since its 2019 launch.

    As part of the rollout, the foundation donated 10 e-drain carts, two e-street sweeping machines and one HomoSep robot — a mechanised septic tank cleaning device — to Agra Nagar Nigam, the city’s municipal body. The equipment is intended to reduce hazardous manual work while improving the scale and consistency of urban waste management.

    The HomoSep robot, already deployed in Gautam Buddha Nagar, has cleared more than 100,000 litres of sludge across 452 manholes and sewer sites — removing sanitation workers from direct exposure to toxic conditions. The device represents a broader pivot within the program toward mechanisation as a tool for worker safety.

    Since its launch, My Clean City has engaged nearly 750,000 citizens through behavioural sensitisation drives and trained more than 61,000 stakeholders on waste management practices. The program has managed over 17,000 tonnes of waste in Noida and Greater Noida, and runs a Waste Champions Club involving more than 2,400 school students.

    The initiative also carries a social welfare component. Under its Social Inclusion of Sanitation Workers program, 200 sanitation worker families in Gautam Buddha Nagar receive support across health, education, financial literacy and skill development — a recognition that sustainable sanitation reform extends beyond infrastructure.

    Five biogas plants, each processing between 1,500 and 1,800 kg of cow dung daily, have been established in the region as part of complementary clean energy efforts, generating fuel from waste material.

    HCLFoundation said the Agra expansion reflects a strategy of replicating proven urban sanitation models in new municipal geographies. The foundation, which reported having positively impacted over 7.5 million lives to date, focuses thematically on education, health and sanitation, skill development, environment, and disaster risk reduction.

    HCLFoundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Indian technology giant HCLTech, on Tuesday donated a suite of advanced intensive care equipment to the Saloni Heart Center at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow — marking a breakthrough in pediatric heart care access for millions of children across Uttar Pradesh.

    Uttar Pradesh records an estimated 75,000 congenital heart disease (CHD) births annually, yet the state until recently lacked a dedicated pediatric cardiac facility. The Saloni Heart Center, established within SGPGIMS as Uttar Pradesh’s first such institution, aims to address that critical gap — and Monday’s donation directly strengthens its post-operative and neonatal intensive care capabilities.

    Life-Saving Equipment Delivered

    The donated equipment includes a Panda ResusView Warmer with Resuscitation Trolley to ensure safe thermal regulation and integrated resuscitation support during critical cardiac episodes; an SLE 6000 Paediatric Neonatal Ventilator, a high-precision device designed for newborns and infants requiring controlled respiratory support; and a GE Bilisoft Fibre Optic Phototherapy System for treating neonatal jaundice — a complication particularly hazardous for CHD infants who cannot be routinely transferred to other wards.

    The initiative was attended by senior government officials including Shri Amit Kumar Ghosh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary for Medical Health and Family Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Awanish Kumar Avasthi, IAS, Senior Advisor to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

    Also present were Prof. Radha K Dhiman, Director, SGPGIMS; Prof. S.K. Agarwal, Head, Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery, SGPGIMS; Shri Himanshu Seth, Executive Chairman, Saloni Heart Foundation; and Rishi Kumar, Senior Vice President, HCLTech.

    HCLTech champions visually impaired cricket tournament

    HCLFoundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of HCLTech, is backing the National T20 Tournament for the Visually Impaired, a breakthrough five-day event running through Feb 19 in Pune that aims to champion inclusive sports across India.

    The tournament, organized by The Poona Blind Men’s Association (PBMA) and the Blind Cricket Association (BCA), brings together eight state teams competing at Deccan Gymkhana Ground and Tembekar Ground in Padmavati.

    Teams from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Punjab are vying for elite status in the visually impaired cricket tournament, which has evolved from a state-level competition into a nationally recognized platform since its 2011 inception.

    “Since its inception in 2011, the T20 Blind Cricket Tournament has grown from a state-level competition in Pune to a nationally recognized platform, hosting multiple state, national and international events—including World Cup league matches and national team selections,” said Ravi Wagh, President of the Cricket Association for the Blind in Maharashtra.

    The event provides comprehensive support to athletes, including accommodation, meals, travel assistance, medical care, sports kits and local transport throughout the tournament.

    Rajesh Shah, President of PBMA, said the organization has consistently championed inclusive sports, providing athletes with visual impairments competitive opportunities across India.

    Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, Director at HCLFoundation, said the visually impaired cricket tournament reinforces the foundation’s belief in sports as a tool to expand access and unlock potential.

    “For the past decade, Sports for Change has enabled inclusive sports pathways across India, with strong focus on gender inclusion, grassroots development and elite coaching,” Pundhir said.

    HCLFoundation’s Sports for Change initiative empowers young athletes from underserved communities and has reached over 64,000 athletes, with 25 para-athletes representing India internationally. The foundation has invested nearly 20 million rupees (USD 240,000) in para sports programs.

    The tournament has previously hosted World Cup league matches and served as a selection ground for national team members.
